About the MHJA…

The Mississippi Hunter Jumper Association (MHJA) is a non-profit educational organization which promotes national and international competition, and all phases of equestrian science, jumping, combined training, horsemanship, horse care and training.

The MHJA is the only organization in the state of Mississippi which sponsors and sanctions hunter/jumper competition. These shows meet certain standards which strive for fair competition, humane treatment of horses and a sportsmanlike attitude among exhibitors.

The MHJA also sanctions shows sponsored by its members and other USEF affiliated organizations. Points are awarded for prizes won and year-end championships and the accompanying prizes are valued by MHJA members. The MHJA is registered with the IRS as a 501 C(3) organization and its purposes are entirely educational, promotional and charitable.

In the past, MHJA has required the horse to be registered in order to be eligible for points and year end awards. We no longer require horse registration. As always, in order to receive MHJA points, the rider and owner must be members at the time of competition. To be eligible for Year End Awards, the horse (Hunters & Jumpers) or the rider (Equitation) must have competed at one MHJA sponsored horse show.
